Defining “Change”
In the Live and Let Live Movement, “Change” refers to the third strategic pillar (following Awareness and Belonging) — see What does 3L do? for the full ABC strategy.
So, change in the strategic context is the Movement’s efforts in supporting individuals to adopt and help others adopt the Legal Principle and Moral Principle.
In other words, Change refers to the implementation, even if step-by-step, of the Legal Principle in daily life, including human relationships and in institutions, and the promotion of the Moral Principle within all social interactions.
Is Peaceful Change Possible?
Live and Let Live rejects violent change, including violent revolutions.
Instead, the Live and Let Live Movement favors a thought revolution and peaceful change.
While violence against those who aggress may be justified, resorting to violence as the first response is not necessarily the appropriate response. This is not only on moral grounds but also on strategic ones: revolution is directly opposed to peace, even when it produces freedom.
The key question becomes, how does the Live and Let Live Movement help implement the widespread adoption of the Legal Principle without causing aggressing?
The most fundamental conflict-reduction principle in the Live and Let Live Movement is sequential. Political and legal change comes after winning the hearts and minds as a critical mass.
By the time Change is pursued at the political level, this critical mass already embrace the Legal Principle as a common sense position and worth following in their own lives.
